Manistee is a Lake Michigan port city with one of the most intact collections of Victorian-era architecture in northern Michigan. These homes, many built during the city's late-1800s lumber boom, have good bones, but after a century of lake-driven weather they frequently need serious attention: original siding that has reached the end of its service life, single-pane windows that drive up heating costs, and interiors laid out for another century.
